Patents

Patent protection provides you the sole right to sell an invention (i.e., a product or process). Of course, the patent holder can decide to use that right to sell the invention yourself, or you can negotiate license deals, with certain rights and limitations decided upon by the patent holder. which are only limited by the patent

In order to obtain a patent, you must apply through the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO). The application process is slow and requires the applicant to provide detailed technical information in order to contrast the invention or process apart from anything else that has been previously done. Once a patent is obtained, the patent holder can restrict anyone from the manufacture, use, import, distribution or sale of the product or process.
